2016 Week 2: And We Back

This Is The Good Life

LOOK AT OUR TOWER! LOOK AT IT!

The Texas - Notre Dame game was one of the most exciting events I've experienced in years. It was a perfect confluence of drama. There were so many storylines on the Texas side. Charlie Strong very likely coaching for his job, our team having been embarrassed on a national stage at the hands of this team last season, Texas football being stuck in a cycle of non-competitive losses.

But also a sense of hope. An off-season where everyone else seemed to take a step back but Texas got stronger. We got the recruits we needed and the offensive coordinator we wanted.

The fact that the game was on a Sunday by itself only added to the drama. All eyes were on Austin, Texas and everyone could feel the energy. Ask 20 different Texas fans how they expected us to perform and you'd get 20 different answers. That fear of the unknown was what brought us all together. The consensus feeling was just "Please God, don't do what we did last year."

The whole city seemed to feel different after the win. Redemption, revenge, relief. Everyone understood that The University of Texas and the city of Austin itself were now in a different but familiar spot. It felt like Ricky, it felt like Vince, it felt like Colt.

After Sunday night, I'm more excited for football than I have been in years. Thank you, Charlie Strong, and thank you Texas Longhorns.

Oh yeah, some other games happened too.

Week 1 Recap

UCLA vs Texas A&M

Josh Rosen, you fat idiot. Texas A&M almost made week 1 perfect by blowing that lead in the 4th quarter, then this jabrone who is supposedly #elite ruins it. Don't think I've forgot about you, #88. Catch the damn ball.

Houston vs Oklahoma

Man, Houston just beat that ass. Not much more analysis here. Oklahoma didn't play very well outside of a few big plays and Houston spent more time designing their new Big 12 logo than actually worrying about the Sooners.

Ole Miss vs Florida State

I missed the first 3 quarters of this game as I was at a very funny improv show in Austin. I left the theater and my chat history told the story of the game.

Watching Florida St getting absolutely destroyed makes my heart so happy
Haha I was at a comedy show with a friend, glad to hear it's going well
Spoke too soon. FSU with a big comeback
Haha goddammit
And another TO

This is why we can't have nice things.

Alabama and Georgia

Mostly Alabama here, but you guys just keep doing you. Unless Georgia can get 10 more Nick Chubbs and just play them on both sides of the ball.

The Rest of The SEC

All you guys should do everything but keep doing you. What the hell was all that? Appalachian State? South Alabama? WISCONSIN? Git gud, noobs.

Week 2 Predictions

2016 Week 1 was billed as THE GREATEST WEEKEND OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL EVER and it actually was pretty awesome.

Week 2 is the universe's way of balancing things out. It might be the shittiest weekend of games I've ever seen:

Georgia vs Nicholls
Texas A&M vs Prairie View A&M
Clemson vs Troy
Florida State vs Charleston Southern
Tennessee vs Virginia Tech

WTF is all this noise?

I normally predict games, but I don't see a lot of upsets here. PRAIRIE VIEW PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG.

Texas Football

WATCH OUT, AMERICA! BEVO XV IS UNDEFEATED AND COMIN FOR THAT ASS!

We play UTEP at home this week so we're either 2 and 0 after Saturday or we're literally burning the stadium down. Please don't test me.

Just a tune-up game before rolling out to Cal next week. I expect us to run all facets of the offense the whole game. We still have too many kinks to work out for us to pull off the gas in the 2nd half.

Looking back at the Notre Dame game, we played really well in most phases. The Irish offensive line is maybe the best we'll see all year and Kizer had the game of his life throwing the ball. We struggled at times against those elite units and individual plays, but all in all I'm extremely proud of how we played.

Let's carry that momentum into this weekend and get a W. Hook 'em.

Texas 63 - UTEP 17
